Uckfield Business Awards launches in style
Marco Pierre White's Chequers at Maresfield was the venue for the launch of the first-ever Uckfield Business Awards on Tuesday 28 February.
The Mayor of Uckfield, chairman of Wealden District Council and chairman of East Susse Count Council were among those who were present. Other guests included sponsors and council officers who are working to promote economic development in Wealden and East Sussex.
Wealden MP, Charles Hendry, had a prior commitment in London that evening, but sent a message of support.
The awards, run in association with Uckfield Chamber of Commerce, are being organised by Chamber committee member, Adrian Corbin, and local marketing company, The Marketing Eye.
The awards will be open to all businesses based in the the postcode districts of TN22 and BN8. Winners will be announced at a presentation ceremony to be held at the East Sussex National hotel on Thursday 1 November 2012.
Mr Corbin said: "Categories have been chosen so that there is something for every business, large and small, to enter. Awards range from best new business to customer service and contribution to the community.
"We hope businesses will tell us about their achievements and take advantage of the opportunity presented by the awards to promote their activity.
"We are grateful to the sponsors who are making it possible for the awards to take place".
Wealden MP, Charles Hendry, said: 'I am delighted that Uckfield businesses are being recognised with the launch of these awards. Our local businesses are the lifeblood of our communities and those in Uckfield have constantly worked to stay ahead of the game during these difficult economic times.
"Uckfield is an excellent and thriving place to do business and our local companies continue to make the town an attractive and interesting place for visitors.
"Their dedication has resulted in Wealden maintaining high levels of employment and I am delighted to see their hard work recognised in these awards".
Mr Hendry added: 'They are all winners - and so is the town as a result of their hard work and commitment".
