Entries now closed for the Uckfield Business Awards

That's it! Seven months after the launch of the inaugural Uckfield Business Awards in February, entries are now closed and the judging process begins.

The response has been overwhelming.  Applications have been received from 100 businesses and there have been more than 450 votes from members of the public, all eager to recognise and endorse their favourite local companies.  Every category in the Awards has been supported.

Neil Edwards, Managing Director of The Marketing Eye, whose offices were destroyed in the Uckfield fire, was keen to reassure applicants and the public that their entries and votes are safe.  "Our back up systems have proved themselves to be robust and all of our data, including that relating to the Uckfield Business Awards, has been recovered" said Neil "It is very much business as usual."

Adrian Corbin from Scientifica, co-organiser of the Awards on behalf of Uckfield Chamber of Commerce, said: "I couldn't be happier with the response. There has been a steady flow of applications throughout the process with the expected surge at the end.  Now the hard work on deciding the winners begins."

The applications and public nominations are being sorted to hand to the judges at a judges' meeting to be held at Marco Pierre White's Chequers on 13 September.  The judges will then announce their short-list by 26 September and visit those businesses to determine their winners. Judging will be completed by 10 October.

The Awards culminate in a Gala Awards Night Dinner at East Sussex National Hotel on 1 November.  Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased via the Uckfield Business Awards website.
